    I am a heavy smoker and I’m looking to switch to nicotine salts – I believe it’s called an open system (refillable) but I’m confused about these devices. One article I read says nic salts and e-liquids aren’t the same thing yet everything I read seems to use these terms interchangeably. I’m wondering if someone could kindly tell me exactly what type of device to look for for nic salts? Thank You!

      Hey Gerry – yes, there’s a lot of … inaccurate stuff there about nic salts.

      In reality, nic salts are just a different type of nicotine. They will work in regular vape devices provided you know what you’re doing. I’ve successfully vaped low nic salt [6mg] in our Jiggy vape pen [low voltage, high coil resistance of 1 ohms, mouth-to-lung inhales]. It takes a bit of practice but you can get there.

      Mind if I ask why nic salts? Lots of heavy smokers have success with regular high-nic e-liquids – they are easier to find and cost less. You could give that a try and then revisit nic salts if it’s not good for you.

      To answer your question, though:

      If you a) insist on nic salts and b) don’t want to think about coil resistance and wattage, then you should invest in a pod system [Juul was the first… but not the last… provider]

      If you a) insist on nic salts and b) want to experiment without breaking the bank – look for a decent vape pen with an M2L setup, a low strength nic-salt juice [3 or 6 mg], and test the wattages that work for you.
