Only one condition is attached to this legality – that the CBD in question doesn’t contain more than 0.3% THC. 

That’s the only thing that the federal government is concerned with. However, despite federal legalization, some individual states have their own regulations around CBD.

Here’s the breakdown of things you need to keep in mind if you decide to ship CBD carts across state lines, or if you’re asking someone to send them to you:

• Federal Law Compliance: According to federal law, you can mail CBD vapes and cartridges across state lines as long as the products comply with the 0.3% THC limit. This applies to both air and ground shipments handled by the United States Postal Service (USPS). 
• State Law Awareness: Some states have stricter regulations regarding CBD. For example, it’s a no-go at Idaho. The state law in Idaho prohibits sale and possession of any CBD product that contains anywhere north of 0% THC. Even 0.01% is illegal and is considered possession. This makes it risky business to send CBD vapes into Idaho. 
• USPS Guidelines: To comply with USPS regulations when shipping CBD, the shipment must:
  
  • Include documentation that validates the product’s THC content.
  • Contain industrial hemp-derived CBD with no more than 0.3% THC.
  • Ensure the sender retains records of this documentation for at least two years. 
• Private Carriers: Carriers like FedEx, UPS, and DHL have their own policies regarding CBD shipping. Typically, they require thorough documentation and may have additional restrictions compared to USPS.

CBD Cart Mail – Tips from Vapers

When mailing CBD vapes and cartridges, it’s useful to consider the perspectives and tips from experienced vapers:

1. Labeling and Packaging: Clearly label packages with the contents and include any required documentation. Properly package vapes and cartridges to prevent leaks and damage during transit. 
2. Quality Assurance: Only purchase and ship products from reputable suppliers who provide lab-tested results confirming THC content and product purity. This not only ensures compliance but also guarantees a safe and effective product for the recipient. 
3. Discretion and Privacy: Choose neutral packaging to maintain privacy and discretion. While it’s entirely legal given compliance, discretion can prevent unnecessary attention and ensure the package reaches its destination without issues. 
4. Storage Tips: Vapers suggest storing CBD cartridges in a cool, dry place and protecting them from sunlight to maintain their quality. When preparing for shipment, consider using insulated materials to safeguard the product’s integrity during transit.

And What If You’re NOT Sticking To the Rules?

Here’s the thing – countless vape and cart packages are constantly zipping up and down the USA postal and delivery system.

Most of them legal. Some of them illegal.

If you’re sticking to the letter of the law, you have nothing to worry about.

BUT… in case you don’t know what’s in the CBD cart or you don’t have the proper documentation, you can still send your package. I don’t advise doing so, but it’s done regularly. CBD vapers that do that suggest keeping to small, personal use quantities and not declaring what’s in the package. Also, in this case, it’s preferable to opt for ground shipping.

If you’re following these common sense suggestions, the worse that can happen is that your shipment is not delivered. But, this only works if you’re genuinely sending a couple of carts and vapes for personal use and are not able to provide COA because you didn’t get it. Still, I don’t recommend doing it at all because a) you shouldn’t be buying dubious and paperless CBD products in the first place, and b) it can still turn into a headache if the package is traced back to you.

Shipping Methods: Air vs. Ground

Both air and ground shipping have their pros and cons when it comes to mailing CBD vapes and cartridges.

Air Shipping:

• Pros: Faster delivery times, which can be crucial for customers reliant on CBD for therapeutic purposes. Generally more reliable with tracking updates.
