Micro-dosing is the easiest way to get the full health and medicinal benefit of marijuana, and still be able to enjoy the flavor, the terpenes, and experience CBD and other cannabinoids. There are tons of studies out there showing that the smallest bowl of cannabis still benefits your mental and physical health in different ways. (I’ll share a few links to this scientific research in the post, so keep reading.
But, I won’t harp on too much about micro-dosing – what it is, what are the benefits – in this post.
You already know that.
That’s why I’ll focus on showing you how to get the benefits of these small doses of cannabis and minuscule mg amounts of THC when using a portable dry herb vaporizer.
Specifically, our very own OG Jams vape.

Micro-dosing with cannabis flower can be tricky if you don’t know how to do it the right way (and most seasoned consumers don’t). That’s why, in this post, I’ll show you a few ideas on how to do it, and talk about the easiest ways to ‘go low’ for the maximum benefit.
Using Small Doses of Marijuana to Great Effect in Your Daily Life
As I said, I’m pretty sure you already know what marijuana microdosing is. But, in case you’re a Johnny-come-lately to the game – a total beginner in the world of cannabis – here it is in a nutshell:
Weed microdosing means using consuming small amounts of cannabis to experience therapeutic benefits without feeling intoxicated or experiencing negative psychoactive effects.
Basically, micro-dosing means using a bit of weed to feel good without getting too high. Or too dumb.
The goal is to enhance your day and anything you do, either through boosting your productivity and creativity to become a fountain of fresh ideas. Or by managing your physical or mental conditions (especially when it comes to cannabis use for medical marijuana patients, who often use it as pain relief for chronic pain, anxiety, and similar health benefits).
Think of this practice as a sweet spot between getting all the medical benefits and still getting the full positive results of weed. An effective way to give your day a leg up without the unwanted side effects that come with consuming too much weed.
What Are the Benefits of Small Doses?
If you’re anything like me, you’re microdosing marijuana because you want to stay functional throughout the day.In other words, you don’t want to get too baked… and the best way to avoid that is going very low with your dosage.
But, there are plenty of benefits to using small doses of your product, as scientific research has shown (here’s a link to the world-first clinical trial on how tiny doses can help manage chronic pain – experts agree that regularly applied small doses are great for this.)
Some additional potential benefits of cannabis micro-dosing include:
- Pain relief for chronic conditions such as Chrone’s Diseases, fibromyalgia, and migraines;
- Slightly higher doses of cannabis products for managing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and similar things;
- Smaller doses are also a good place to start for users who want to improve their sleep;
- Micro-dosing is also a good option if you’re looking to improve your productivity and creativity (honestly, I get better results when writing if I have a few milligrams of THC kicking around in my system).
- Great for controling the munchies (here are a few more suggestions to stop the munchies when you vape weed)
- It’s also great if you’re looking to reduce your stress levels (works better than high doses, trust me).
Medical patients and other cannabis consumers are all flocking to this increasingly popular way to do weed (some even dose their CBD compound – it’s a great way to conserve your stash and still get the benefits you’re looking for).
But, micro-dosing can be tricky, especially if you’re doing it with a dry herb vaporizer and the cannabis flower (it’s a bit easier if you’re using THC oils in a vape pen or a tincture). The fact is that it’s difficult to control the dosage and the ratio of THC like this… but it can still be done.
That’s why I want to show you – with an example – the main ways how I use the OG Jams vaporizer get my lowest dose – but still an effective dose – and still be able to go about my day and accomplish a lot.
How to Use the OG Jams Vaporizer to Microdose?

1. Prep the OG Jams vape for your micro session – don’t forget to add a mesh divider and pack the bottom of the bowl with loose tobacco (<- this is a great option if you don’t want to hit the bowl too many times or use much weed).
2. Prepare your product – make sure to have small chunks of weed, not fine powder. The OG Jams is good at cooking the lumps, but you might get too much of a good thing if you pack in powder.
3. Set the temp to high. You want heat to quickly vaporize the bud, providing you with your desired dose.
4. Take a slow, deliberate hit without inhaling too deeply. Remember, you’re not looking to get high here and get the full effects. Wait 30 or so minutes before taking another hit.
5. Remember how much you’ve packed. If you’re using tobacco as a base layer (you don’t have to do this, though, you will burn through your weed in 6-8 hits (assuming you packed around 0.2 grams
And that’s it.

A Word About Dosage
As I said, dosing correctly when using a dry herb vaporizer is tough.
You’ll want to pack in around 0.2 – 0.3 grams of product to get around 5mg of THC in one hit. This is not an exact science as it will depend on the strain you’re using.
It may take some trial and error to find the right dosage and frequency that works best for you. As always, it’s a good idea to start low and go slow, and to keep a journal to track your dosage and any effects you experience.
The optimal dosage for microdosing cannabis can vary depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your body weight and metabolism
- The strength of the cannabis you are using
- The method of consumption (smoking, vaping, edibles, etc.)
- Your personal tolerance to cannabis
- The reason for microdosing (e.g., pain relief, anxiety management, etc.)
As a general rule, try with 0.2 grams every couple of hours and work your way up until you find a dosage that works for you. Next time, start with that dosage and you’re golden!
The Best Cannabis Strains for This
Again, keep in mind that different strains produce different effects for people. Depending on what you’re after, you’re going to have to experiment a bit here. But, let’s touch on two most common reasons for marijuana micro-dosing boosting creativity and managing chronic pain.
The best strains for managing pain are:
- AC/DC – high with CBD, low with THC (less chance for psychoactive effects).
- Northern Lights – sedative effects so used for medicinal purposes. Good for insomnia and anxiety.
- Harlequin – also high in CBD. Known for uplifting and stress-relieving effects.
The best strains for boosting creativity are:
- Jack Herer – sativa strain that is very uplifting and energizing.
- Sour Diesel – a bit pungent strain that packs a punch (careful when microdosing).
