O-rings… the waterfall… mushroom cloud… dragon – no, I’m not setting the scene for an apocalyptic Dungeons & Dragons movie. What I’m talking about are, in fact, the most popular vaping tricks of 2022.
In this post, I’ll share with you 9 cool vape tricks that you can start practicing now… and master by the end of the day! Seriously, these are super easy and – if you follow the instructions and watch the video – you’ll be able to replicate them within hours! After that, it’s just about practicing… and impressing your friends at parties.
[I’ll write up a follow-up post with advanced vape tricks for advanced vapers. Once it’s live, I’ll add the link here. In the meantime, take a crack at the ones below!]
Here’s a list of those 9 easy beginner vape tricks:
- The o-ring – a simple but stylish O shape ring (or two… or even three)
- The bull ring – a snazzy – and definitely not permanent – nose ring.
- Snap inhale – also known as mushroom cloud or a ghost inhale (ghost hit).
- The French inhale – an impressive feat that includes nose inhalation.
- The dragon – transforms your face into a mythical beast in seconds.
- Waterfall – the name says it all… a simple trick, but very effective!
- Tornado – this one is part science, part art… and one of the best tricks out there!
- Bane inhale – want the Bane’s ethereal mask made out of vapor? This one’s got you covered.
- Vapor bubbles – love vapor? Love blowing bubbles? You can now combine the two!
Now, before I go into the details and the steps that will help you pull off each and every one of these, let’s take a look at what you need (ideally) to make the final result the most impressive vape trick anyone’s ever seen.
Vapor Tricks Work Better with the Right Setup
Yes, you can actually do a lot of these tricks with a simple vape pen.
But…
As much as I’d love to tell you that our HighKey or Jiggy vaporizers will help you smash it out of the park, the won’t. Although both are great vapes, you need a powerful vape mod, a quality sub-ohm vape tank, and high VG vape juice to pull this off. (Propylene glycol juices will work, too… but the vapor will not be as dense. Also, don’t dilute your vape juice with water or, even worse, add alcohol to it because you won’t get the vapor you need.).
This is what those advanced vapers who do cloud-chasing competition use, so if you want to get the results they get, you need to use it, too. After all, they would know – they invented most of these flashy tricks!
If you don’t care about getting the perfect final result – and that’s okay, too – you can definitely use any good pen (Jiggy and Mist come to mind, for example). With a lot of practice, your rings, triangles, and inhales should still be mad good!
Okay, that’s all about the setup. Let’s dive into the juicy stuff!
9 Easiest Vaping Tricks (& How to Nail Them on Your First Try)
1. How to blow Os like a pro
The secret to blowing a perfect O lies in knowing the right amount of ‘cough’ that goes into it.
Here’s the breakdown of the whole process, but you’ll be able to see it in the video as well.
- To start, take a long drag from your vape and inhale the vapor. Try not to push it all the way to your lungs – keep it in your throat.
- Push your tongue down (glue it to the bottom of your mouth), and pull it slightly back. Not to much because you don’t want it obstructing the line of exhale.
- Next, purse your lips slightly and form an O shape. This will give you thinner Os. For fat donuts, curl your lips around your teeth.
- Lastly, start contracting your throat in short pulses – not an actual cough, but as if you’re trying to suppress one. This will force the right amount of vapor out of your throat, and the position of your lips will give it a nice, round shape.
And you’re done!
2. How to do bull rings
The bull ring is, essentially, just an O or a smoke ring with a well-timed inhale through the nostrils.
- Repeat the steps for blowing perfect Os. You want a thinner one for this, so make sure your lips are not too tucked inward over your teeth. Blow an O – gently and slowly – so it hovers in front of you.
- Lean in with care (you don’t want to disturb the vapor) and inhale the top part of the O ring. Depending on how fast or slow you do it, there should be an illusion of a bull ring piercing going through your nose. For best results, tilt your head slightly down before the inhale so your nose is parallel with the top part of the ring.
3. How to do the ghost inhale
The ghost inhale is often talked about as one of the easiest vaping tricks.
And guess what? It is!
When it comes to it, it’s all about pulling a big ball of vapor into your mouth and being conscious of the timing of your inhale. Once you’ve inhaled – remember, it needs to stay in your mouth – all you need to do is open and let the vapor trail out a bit. When that happens, simply slowly push it out in a big ball (use your tongue and cheeks – don’t exhale!), and then quickly inhale it back. That’s all there is to it.
4. How to do the French inhale
Also known as the Irish waterfall or a reverse waterfall, this easy trick gives the impression that the vapor is pouring up from your lower jaw and into your nose. Keep in mind that this one is a bit tricky if you have keen sense of smell or sensitive skin in your nostrils, so it will take a bit of getting used to.
- Take a drag from your vape but don’t inhale it – keep it in your mouth. It’s best not to go for a big cloud of vapor – a medium size inhale will do since you have to let the vapor settle in your mouth for a relatively long time (a couple of seconds at least).
- Slowly open your mouth – fight the urge to exhale, which is the most common mistake I see people do – and push out your lower jaw out. The vapor will start drifting up naturally.
- As the vapor is going up, inhale through your nose to really get it going. And that’s it – the French inhale!
5. How to do the dragon
The dragon vape trick is one of the most impressive ones in the book. The basic idea behind it is to create an intricate mesh of vape cloud streams that turn your face into that of a roaring Chinese zodiac dragon.
Here’s how to do it:
- Take a sizeable, good vape cloud but don’t inhale – keep it in your mouth.
- Exhale as much vapor as you can quickly through your nose and the corners of your mouth. Your lips should be touching in the middle, as if you’re preparing to whistle.
6. How to do the waterfall
Personally, this one isn’t as impressive to me. But, it’ll still dazzle the youngins who’ve grown up watching Harry Potter – or the old geezers who played with magic potions in their D&D campaigns. The effect you get from the waterfall is the rolling gushes of vapor stumbling out of bottle.
What you need is a plastic bottle – you can even cut off the tip if you want more vapor coming out – with a bit of cold water inside. Take a long drag and then slowly exhale into the bottle. When you tilt it, it will start coming out like a slow-rolling waterfall.
For extra points, you can take a larger container and pour it over a flat surface. Check out the video to see that in action:
7. How to do the tornado
Now, this one, admittedly, is a bit trickier.
The tornado involves a bit of logistics (a nice flat surface), big vape clouds, and a bit of hand dexterity. You might have to try it a few times, but I promise – it’s a great way to inject a bit of fun into every social gathering.
- Slowly exhale a large cloud of vapor on a flat surface. What you’re looking for is a flat pool of vapor that sits still. Don’t disturb it. Back away slowly, and do not blow in it.
- Now, bring your hand to the edge of the vapor pool. Again, do this slowly. Your hand should look like you’re about to high five someone, with fingers closed. Chop vertically at the vapor and start moving your hand swiftly towards the middle, while at the same time lifting up and twisting your wrist. Essentially, you’re lifting the vapor up and then adding a little vape bend with the flick of your wrist. This one is difficult to explain, so best watch the video to see it in action.
8. How to do a bane inhale
A bane inhale is basically a variation on the French inhale. Only, this time around, you end up with the replica of Bane’s – the villain from the Dark Night Rises – mask around your face and mouth.
To do it, all you need to do is prep for a French inhale (follow the steps outlined above). However, this time around, you’ll touch your top teeth to your lower lip, and slowly push the vapor out. This works best if your teeth have small gaps between them (and not so great if you have braces or a bridge up there. Then, when the vapor starts trickling out through the sides, inhale through your nostrils to complete the illusion.
9. How to do vapor bubbles
For me, this is the coolest vaping trick out there!
Seriously, I don’t have any instructions for you here, just make sure you’re using a plastic bottle and not an empty paper towel roll (because that thing won’t last). If you’re looking for a great stunt that uses a large amount of vapor, this is it.
Enjoy!
That’s all I have for this post!
If you like the tricks, make sure to comment and I’ll make a compilation of more advanced ones that you can try out.
And, for all the times you’re not cloud chasing and doing vapor tricks, don’t forget to take a breather with one of our more low-key vaporizers, such as the Mist or the Jiggy!
